Adding a background to your blog may make it even more beautiful and help it stand out from other bloggers!  It can be subtle or not, and should compliment your banner.  I have greenish swirls in my background for example (www.handstampedbyheather.com). Michelle Laycock, www.laycockdesigns.com, can design a banner for you with a matching/coordinating background and even new "static" backgrounds as well!

Adding a Background Image

1.     First you have to have an image created – one you did yourself or by Michelle Laycock or other designer.

2.     Then, create a post and insert the image in the post like you would any other card or project.

3.     Save it as a DRAFT (you do not have to Publish it unless you want to make an announcement to your blog visitors).

4.     Then view the post (via Edit Post), and right-click on the image and choose Properties.

5.     Select the entire path in the Target area…it should start with http:// and end with .jpg most likely. Select it and then Copy it (CTRL + C in Windows).

6.     Now, from the Dashboard, go to Layout, then Edit HTML.

7.     Scroll down a little and look for the BODY tag….something like this
without the URL.  You need to add the
url(); and paste the Target in between the parenthesis.

body {
background: #ffffff url(http://bp1.blogger.com/_wgXHmVY8RgU/SHLrihcjM9I/AAAAAAAAAXI/ANt5J_64Qck/s200/heatherborder6.jpg);
margin:0;
color:#333333;
font:x-small Georgia Serif;
font-size/* */:/**/small;
font-size: /**/small;
text-align: center;
}
