Welcome to the Blogs By Heather Q&A Area!
I receive a lot of email from followers, friends, new customers and think they are all great. So why not share them with everyone else?
I remember my teachers always prompting us to ask questions in class for there was a big chance that someone else also had the same question and may have been afraid to ask. So with that concept in mind, I want you to post your questions here and in doing so I will post the answers to my blog to share with others as well!
So..ask away!
I look forward to your questions and
working with you in building and managing your blog!
You may also continue to email me your questions and I will post them here as well. Email me at Heather@BlogsByHeather.com.
Additional questions this week via email were:
– how to track clicks on a page
– Google’s video bar
I will be posting a weekly Q&A to recap questions posted here or emailed during each week.
Questions asked this week via email:
– Embed YouTube
– Sharing Google Doc
– Disable links in PDF
– Feedburner Issue
Remember to use this page to post questions to me! I will be posting a Weekly Q&A right here on my blog.
Ask away… 😀
Hi Heather,
Thanks for beeing so helpful!
I would like to know how to add a dropdown menu and submenus to the pages on blogger(static pages and horizontal).
I have found some tutorial online but did not work it.
Thanks again
Hi Heather, I have one simple question. How did you type the copyright symbol in the watermark tutorial? Thank you! I’m anxious to hear from you.
I have tried 3 different ways of installing a custom header for my blogger account. I see it appear in the box, but after I save it and click on “View Blog” it doesn’t show up. Any suggestions?
I forget how to change the blog buttons so they go to my site instead of SU.
(Oops! Sent you an email before I saw the “questions” button, sorry, it’s late and I’m exhausted.)
Here’s what I sent:
Hi Heather!
As luck would have it, I found you and your awesomesauce of a site. I learned so much from you in a short amount of time on ways to improve the look and feel of my blog. However, it is really late here (11:53pm to be exact) and I can no longer look through your blog. So, could you tell me if you have any information about Typekit and how to implement it in my Typepad blog? I thought I followed the directions, but it’s not working. I think I missed something or it’s more than likely that I don’t know what I’m doing. 🙂 Any help or a blog post on your end about Typekits would be fantabulous!
Thank you SO much for your time and consideration.
Looking forward to hearing from you…
Hi Angie 😀
I have helped a customer with TypeKit but haven’t posted anything on my blog about it yet – great topic to be posted. I will definitely write up something soon 😀
However, in the meantime..here is how you can use TypeKit with Typepad:
http://help.typekit.com/customer/portal/articles/6848-using-typekit-with-typepad
However, also remember you have to enter your typekit ID in Typepad under Settings, Add-Ons, and you’ll see a space for Typekit ID there – you have to enter that.
Let me know if you get stuck 😀
Thank you, Heather, for getting back to me. I think I’m going to have to wait for you to write your post because I’ve done everything in the link you provided AND I’ve even entered in my Typekit ID in the Add-on’s. Where I think I’m having the problem is with the “Selectors.” I guess I’m a bit computer-illiterate when it comes to those. Patiently waiting…Angie
Have you tried using typepad in an iframe with facebook? WordPress seems to have this nailed down, but we use typepad.
Hi Sherman!
Can you be mores specific? What in TypePad do you want to bring into a FB page (using iFrames)?
Heather 😀
I know you must think I am crazy, but I have typepad. Instead of linking the whole http in your post I want the word that I choose to go to that specific site or page in my blog? Thanks so much for your assistance.
Hi! In the comment link of a typepad blog, I would like to change the word ‘comment’ to ‘testimonies’. Is that something you can do?
Hi Heather, I am considering changing blogging platforms. Will i lose my subscribers?
Hi Heather
I would like to know ho do you change the word ‘comment’ to something else in the new blogger?
Hi Tarien!
Here is the post/article you want:

Heather,
One of your posts from last year talked about the paypal option for digital goods — and you referred to it being able to be used for PDFs — I can’t really see how it can be applied in that fashion. Do you have any additional information?
Hi Amy!
Here are some articles to help you!

or integrate with a third party app like Mals e.

Dear Heather,
I created a blogger blog about 2 weeks ago and quickly realized I was completely out of my comfort zone. I found your book on the internet and got a copy. Then I opened it and it didn’t seem to mesh with what I was seeing on the screen. (For example, where was the Dashboard button on the right side of the screen…)
A little more work on my part and I realized that I’m in the “new” version of blogger. And today I checked your website and found your posts about the “new, improved” version.
Here’s my question — how much interpolation will I have to do if I continue to use your book? It looks like a great reference tool but I don’t want to find myself having to twist the old instructions to make them work with the new version and wind up creating a mess. Is the adjustment pretty obvious and intuitive — once I figure out where that Dashboard button has been relocated? 🙂
I’m not much of an internet person (no FB, no Twitter) so my skill level is very basic.
Thanks for taking the time to respond.
You can switch back to the Old Blogger and then the book is good to go:
https://www.blogsbyheather.com/2012/01/how-to-blogger-help-i-want-to-go-back-to-the-old-blogger.html
Or you can use the new interface, once you click on your blog name, you’ll see more of a “dashboard” but with options like Posts and Pages on the Left side.
Layout is Page Elements and so on. I can help you thru it if you get stuck or you can read this article about the changes.
But to follow the book, I would recommend going back to the old Blogger 😀

I just read your tutorial about how to add a mailchimp signup box to your blog. Now I do have a question:
I would like to add a signup for mailchimp under (at the bottom of) eaach blog post I write. I am on blogger for now. Is there a way to do this without having to copy and paste the html-code each time I write a new blog?
Would really appreciate an answer!
Love,
Ursula
Heather-
Great blog! I am new to uploading templates to Mailchimp and need a custom template. However, I don’t know how to do this. Any pointers? I am creating a Thanksgiving email and am not having luck. I know some HTML but am not an expert. I want to upload a background and then have an editable text box that can pull last name from Mailchimp list. Please help!
