Thumbtack-purpleI'm excited to share this new series with you, called "101 Blogging Tips". In the series there will be 101 quick, short and sweet blogging tips that you can begin applying to your blog right away!

Tip #23: Make sure your use Categories in composing your posts!

In my Reorganize Your Blog Series, I explain how and why it is very good practice to use Categories (or in Blogger called Labels) when composing your posts. I also recently wrote an article detailing the great composition and organization of Mary Fish's stamping site, Stampin' Pretty.

Using categories has its advantages and only takes a moment to set them in your post editor! Read this article to learn how!

First, it helps your blog visitors find what they are looking for, the set of posts that cover a specific topic.  For example, this series of posts you are reading on blogging tips is a "category" in my blog. If you go to the sidebar, under Categories, you will see a category named 101 Blogging Tips.  If you click that category it will list only those posts that I have composed and set with the category "101 Blogging Tips".  So you don't have to scroll through my blog and all the other help articles. It filters my posts and only displays the 101 Blogging Tips.   You want to do this on yours site!

Second, it also helps improve your SEO!

So if you haven't been categorizing your posts, you can go back and edit all your posts a little at a time, but in going forward, start using them now 😀
