I'm excited to share this new series with you, called "101 Blogging Tips". In the series there will be 101 quick, short and sweet blogging tips that you can begin applying to your blog right away!
Tip #25: Protect Your Blog – Intellectual Property
There are a few ways you can copyright your blog, which is basically "protecting" your blog and to let people know they should not copy your work. I mean it is common courtesy, but you'd be surprised…sadly. Your blog is part of your Intellectual Property.
One service would be to use a company like LegalZoom (or other lawyer or legal site). You would then have to basically print a hard copy of your blog content…yes, maybe 100s or 1000s of pages depending on how long you have been blogging…then submit it with a copyright application and fee. Then to continue every 6 months or so when you want to do a resubmit to keep that updated content protected, etc. That is one way to go about it.
There are other applications you can use as well or in addition too depending on your budget. I use a free one called My Free Copyright. It's "free" and takes a few moments to set up. Basically it creates a digital fingerprint of your blog posts and sends you that receipt to keep for your records. Another site to test occasionally is Copyscape (is a free plagiarism checker).
thanks for sharing it.
