Tip #93: Building Trust

Your website, blog, social media sites (content marketing strategies) is how you are now going to build trust with your customers and followers.  Heavy promoting and sales will surely backfire in today's age. People want to trust but it's something that is earned.  So how do you build trust "online"?

Here are a few tips to help you build trust online, through your site.

1. Show Yourself.
Have a picture of YOU on your About page, and profiles for your staff. Let people "see" who you are visually as they get to know you through your posting and writing.

2. Give Credit
If you have multiple authors and sources for your posts, let people know that too. Showcase them, provide a mini bio, etc.

3. Social Media Stats
Show off your number of likes and followers…if they feel others "like" (and trust) you, they are more likely to follow.

4. State your business
Be very clear on what your business is and/or what type of services you offer. Do not try and "sell" that you do it all. Be precise. That, people can believe and trust.

5. Keep Current
You must keep current with your writing and information and should post regularly. This keeps your customers and followers engaged and they know and can expect you to deliver quality information timely, and keep up with what's new.

6. Quality vs. Quantity
Although you want to post regularly, keeping current, do NOT just throw up a post to keep stats or numbers.  Only publish valuable content (whether it be a top ten list, a how-to tutorial, research results) – what your readers come to trust and enjoy, expect, and want!
