Many people don't like the new Profile look of the sidebar item with the New Typepad, so a few people have asked me how to create their own page. There are two different ways of doing this; one with a "page" and another by using a Notes typelist.

Creating and Using a Page

From the Dashboard, go to Posts, then click on Pages (from the left, green tab). Then Create a New Page. Give it the name "About Me" for example. Complete the page and publish it. Select and copy the Permalink (this is the HTML link to your blog that you will later use.

Next, upload your picture to the File Manager (Library->File Manager). Right-click on your image name when it is uploaded, then select Copy Shortcut.

Next, create a New Typeplist, a Notes Typelist with the name "About Me" for example. Then leave the label blank or use it to write your name and title or name and phone (such as "Heather Wright-Porto
Blog Developer". Then in the Notes area you would then use both of the URLs you previously noted, and it would look like this:

Save the Changes. Then click Publish. Check off your blog and save changes. Then click Organize Content and drag and drop where you would like the new About Me sidebar item. Save Changes.

Using a Notes Typelist

Instead of using a page, many people just like their photo and mini bio in the sidebar. For this you would simply use a typelist.

Create a New Typeplist, a Notes Typelist with the name "About Me" for example. Then leave the label blank or use it to write your name and title or name and phone (such as "Heather Wright-Porto
Blog Developer". Then in the Notes area you would then use both of the URLs you previously noted, and it would look like this:
